Archibald "Arch" Sidney Campbell, 82, passed away June 29, 1979, at Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wisc. after having undergone surgery. Funeral services were held Monday, July 2, 1979, at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, with Msgr. Heineman giving the Scripture Service on Sunday evening and Father Riecks the services on Monday.

Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Dave Holroyd, and members of American Legion Post 62, Mark Byrnes, Lud Larson, Deb Monson, Don Sweeney, and Jack Wadsworth. Organist was Mrs. Robert Evans and Mrs. Roger Halvorson was the soloist. Miltary honors at the graveside were performed by Amvets Post 27.

Arch Campbell, the son of James and Elizabeth (Dixon) Campbell, was born January 30, 1897, in Monona. He attended [school] in the Sixteen area school.

On September 4, 1918, he joined the Army. He was a 60-year member of the Ralph D. Waters American Legion Post 62 of Waukon, and a charter member of W.W.I. Barracks 1341, serving as Senior Vice Commander.

On November 24, 1934, he was united in marriage to Irene Molitor at Cherry Mound Catholic Church by Rev. Herbert Kreger. He was baptized in the Catholic faith. He was a carpenter by trade, retiring at age 68. Mr. Campbell belonged to the Carpenters' Union and was a charter member of the Monona Senior Citizens. In 1973 he suffered a heart attack and was in poor health since then. Mr. & Mrs. Campbell moved to Monona in 1976.

He passed away at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 29 days. Arch always had a smile, a little joke to tell, and gave willingly of his time to help those who needed his assistance He will be missed by all who knew him.

Preceding him in death were his parents; six brothers: Roy, Francis, Bert, James, Bill and Herb; and one sister, Gertrude.

Surviving are his wife, Irene; three nieces; a nephew; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; other relatives and a host of friends.
