The death of Mrs. G. D. Scofield, aged 77 years, occurred Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. J. Stamp. Funeral services occurred Monday afternoon, at the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. Turner. Interment took place in the local cemetery. Miss Jane Wing was born in Michigan and in the fall of 1861 came here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wing. She was united in marriage to Geo. David Scofield on Sept. 14, 1867. To this union were born four children, Frank H., who died in 1896, Mrs. L. Howard Evans of Maryville, Mo., Mrs. Alvin J. Stamp of this place and Glenn D., who died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Scofield celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sept. 14, 1917. Mr. Scofield preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1920. During the past few months Mrs. Scofield endured a great deal of pain but bore it as bravely as possible. She was a kind mother and grandmother, and although gone her many acts of kindness will not be forgotten by her remaining daughters, granddaughters and other relatives and a large circle of friends.
