Funeral services for Frank Maker, 76 years old and a long-time resident of Clayton county, were conducted by the Rev. James Sopko at St. Paul's United Lutheran church in Guttenberg on Friday afternoon with interment in the City cemetery. The funeral was largely attended. Mr. Maker passed away at his home in Guttenberg on Tuesday, Oct. 4th, 1932, after a week's illness. He was born in Germany, where he grew to manhood and where he was married to Miss Louise Zimmermann who preceded him in death eight years ago. Forty-nine years ago Mr. and (Mrs.) Maker and family came to America and settled at Rockford, Ill., for a time, then coming to Clayton county. For many years Mr. Maker was successfully engaged in farming in Clayton township. Thirteen years ago he and his family came to Guttenberg to reside, where deceased spent the remainder of his life. Mr. Maker was a member of the Modern Woodman lodge. He is survived by 9 children, namely, Mrs. Frank Hinzman and Mrs. Waldin Mohrman of Guttenberg; Mrs. Alma Miller of Elkader; Mrs. Mary Wright of McGregor; Mrs. Helmuth Ball and Mrs. Katherine Snow of Waterloo; Mrs. Augusta Seidel of Pelican Rapids, Minn.; Christ Maker of Pennsylvania, and Arthur Maker of Communia; 40 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Ernest and Christ Maker of Dubuque and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
