A number of Guttenberg people attended the funeral of Mrs. Frank Berns (nee Anna Seibertz) at Garnavillo on last Saturday morning. Mrs. Berns was 69 years of age at the time of her death and was a life-long resident of the Garnavillo community. She had been in poor health for some time previous to her death. She was married to Mr. Frank Berns, who preceded her in death several years ago. Mrs. Berns died at her home in Garnavillo township Wednesday, Sept. 28, 1932. Her death is deeply mourned by four sons, Arthur of Garnavillo, Frank, Raymond and Verni of Garnavillo township, two daughters, Mrs. Bert Connell of Garnavillo, and Miss Anna Berns of Garnavillo township; a number of grandchildren; two brothers, William and John Siebertz of Garnavillo; one sister, residing in North Dakota, and many other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss this good and true Christian woman. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Father H. Scharphoff at St. Joseph's Catholic church at Garnavillo Saturday morning, with interment in St. Joseph's cemetery there. The funeral was very well attended.
