Herman Fredrick Otting, son of John Fredrick Otting and Friedrica Buckman, was born Aug. 7, 1880, in Clayton county, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church at Garnavillo. He attended the Hawkeye county school. Most of his life he wrked on a farm.

Mr. Otting suffered a heart attack in 1952 and again in January of 1953. On May 4 he was taken to the McGregor hospital where he died May 21 at the age of __years, eight months and ____ days.

Mr. Otting is survived by his brother Henry; three sisters, Mrs. Ed Werger, Miss Justine Otting, and Mrs. Samuel Little; five nephews, two nieces and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday afternoon, May 23, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church. Interment in the New Garnavillo cemetery. The Rev. L. C. Urlaub was the officiating pastor.
