Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa for Fern Helen Mohs, age 79, of Luana who passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Garden View Senior Assisted Living Center in Monona, Iowa. Reverend Harold McMillin officiated and burial was in the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Fern Helen Mohs was born on October 30, 1932 to Fredrick and Henrietta (Schultz) Koehn in Guttenberg, Iowa. Fern graduated as the Valedictorian of the Guttenberg High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Keith E. Mohs on July 21, 1960 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. Three sons were born to their marriage. Fern loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Many of the summer days she spent watching baseball or softball games or heading to Osbourne to have a picnic with the kids and check out the animals. She enjoyed shopping, bowling, and playing cards or board games with friends and family. Fern also had a great love for reading and later in life, she enjoyed watching television.

She had many jobs including working at the Telegraph Herald in Dubuque, Iowa. She also was a bartender at the Luana Tavern, waitress, salesclerk, Avon Distributor, and worked at the Monona Greenhouse.

Fern is survived by her three sons: Jeff (Denise Imoehl) of Monona, Tim (Jacque) Mohs of Winterset, Iowa, and Brad (Melissa) Mohs of Fredericksburg, Iowa; eleven grandchildren Bob (Nikki), Stefanie, Jake (Sarah), Dillon, Dallas, Kelsey, Kara, Casey, Gage, Gunner, and Gabbie; five great-grandchildren; brother Richard (Mary Ann) Koehn of Monona; brothers-in-law Lamoine Wentz of Monona, and Marvin (Juanita) Mohs of Luana.

Fern was preceded in death recently by her husband Keith who passed away on April 27, 2012; her parents; two sisters Lavonne (Kenneth) Duwe and Bonnie Wentz; and a brother Gerald Koehn.
