Truman Samuel Zurcher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Zurcher of Farmersburg, was born in Farmersburg township, February 11, 1903. He attended public schools at Farmersburg. He was to some extent an invalid from birth, and remained with his parents. He was popular with all the boys of his age.

He attended the Prairie Evangelical Church and Sunday School with his parents where he received religious instruction. He was frail in body but had a bright mind and a beautiful character. While frail in body and suffering considerable the last weeks, he never complained but bore his suffering with patience and gave evidence of a Christian spirit in everything. He trusted in the Lord and found comfort in Him, choosing as the text he wished to have used for his funeral sermon Psm. 23:4: "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me."

About a month ago he became ill with the grippe, complications set in and after considerable suffering he passed away Friday forenoon February 23, 1923, at the home of his parents. He attained the age of 20 years and 12 days.

He had six brothers, three of whom died in infancy and one about twelve years ago. He leaves to mourn father and mother, and two brothers Emil and Ben, both living near Farmersburg, beside other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday forenoon at the home and at the Lutheran church conducted by his pastor Rev. O.A. Hillman, assisted by Rev.Braun. Burial in the Farmersburg cemetery.
