Meyer / Meyers, 14 m/o son died 1873

A little son of J.F. Meyer, aged fourteen months, was drowned one day last week. The particulars as near as we can learn are as follows:

The mother of the child went to the field to get some potatoes for dinner, leaving the little fellow with his sister, a little girl only three years old. The mother was only absent from the house about fifteen minutes, and on returning, missed the baby and asked the little girl where he was, she answered, “in the water”. Mrs. Meyers rushed to the spring, only a few yards from the door, and found him, but life was extinct.

Mr. Meyers lives about three miles southwest of Elkader. The sorrowing family has our sympathies in their bereavement.
