Clayton County Register, Thur., Jan. 1935.

Guttenberg: Mrs. Charles Reinitz, one of this community's highly esteemed pioneer residents and worthy mothers, passed away at the home of her son, Gustave Reinitz, in Guttenberg last Thursday evening at 7:00 o'clock, at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 19 days, following an illness of long duration.

Mrs. Reinitz was born at Silmersdorf, Germany, on May 28, 1850, where she received her early education and grew to womanhood. When 23 years old she came to America, settling in Clayton county, Iowa, where the remainder of her ambitious and true Christian life was spent. On May 11, 1874, she was married at Ceres, Iowa, to Mr. Charles, who preceded her in death on October 27, 1915. After their marriage the couple resided on farms in Jefferson and Garnavillo townships for many years. In 1907 the family came to Guttenberg to reside.

One daughter, Mrs. Emma Aulwes, has also preceded the mother in death.

To do kind acts for her family and friends was Mrs. Reinitz's greatest pleasure in life at all times. Her memories will be forever cherished. To know her was to love and respect her.

For the past few years she had been making her home with her son, Gustave, and wife, where she always received the tenderest of care. She is survived by eight sons, Charles, of Storden, Minn.; Gustave, Herman, Henry, Rudolph and Theodore, of Guttenberg; Louis, of Cedar Falls; and Edward, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends, by whom this good and true woman will be sadly missed.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. J. F. Adix at St. John's American Lutheran church here Sunday afternoon, with interment in the City cemetery. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near.
