Minnie Franck, daughter of Martin Franck and his wife Minnie, nee Schluetter, was born Dec. 29, 1888, in Chicago, Ill., and died Feb. 11, 1909, at her home near Watson, Iowa, at the age of 20 years, 1 month and 12 days. In 1891 her parents moved from Chicago on the farm about 1 1/2 miles northeast of Watson, where they resided ever since. Minnie was sick but a little over a week, pneumonia causing her sudden death.

The burial took place last Sunday. Although the weather and the roads were very disagreeable, a great number of relatives, friends and neighbors from near and far attended the funeral. Rev. Rabe, assisted by Rev. Haag, the former pastor, conducted the service.

Minnie was of a kind and loving disposition and the favorite of her parents, brothers and sister. During the time she resided here, she endeared herself to all who came in contact with her. It was an enjoyment and a privilege to know and to associate with her. She was everybody's friend and in return was loved and respected by the whole society and neighborhood. She has passed from our midst but will never be effaced from our memory.

The great number of friends present, the many gifts of fine flowers by the young people and friends, but above all, the tears that flowed and the sympathy with the grief stricken family evinced the love and esteem in which the deceased and her family are held.

She leaves parents, two brothers, George and Elmer, one sister, Clara, many relatives and a host of friends to mourn her early death. May God comfort them and grant them all a happy reunion in heaven.

~Monona Leader, February 18, 1909

Notes: Burial is in the Monona City cemetery; her parents were Martin Lewis Franck and Wilhelmina Marie Schlitter; her name was Wilhelmine, with Minnie being a nickname.
