Miss Florence Bente, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bente of Elkader, and Merritt T. Hamilton, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hamilton of Independence, were married at the Bente home near Elkader, Saturday, Feb. 15. Rev. G. H. Franke, of Elkader, officiated. The bride was attended by her father; and Miss Ruth Hamilton, of Waterloo, was bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Mr. Paul Sechan of Independence. Mrs. Elmer Bente sang two selections and played the wedding march. Out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. Sproull, Mrs. Floy Miller, and Mr. Paul Shehan, all of Independence, Iowa. Miss Hazel Hamilton, of Milwaukee, Wis., Ruth Hamilton, Ila Vay, Oby, Marie Hjelle, Gerry Darling, Lillian Thompson, Waterloo, Mildred Bente, Mason City, and Mrs. Ralph Bente of Stanhope. Florence M. Bente was a graduate from the Elkader High School and the primary course at Iowa Teachers College and has been teaching primary grades of mental deficient children. Merritt Hamilton graduated from the Independence High School and attended the Iowa State College at Ames. For two years he has farmed near Independence. They will be at home on a farm near Elkader.
