Austin Michael Alan Roberts, the son of Travis and Lori Schomaker Roberts, was born June 23, 1997, in Spencer, Iowa. Austin received his early education in Spencer and was currently a senior at Spencer High School.

Austin was a good kid. Born and raised in Spencer, Iowa, he loved what many boys and young men love - hot rods, sports, hunting, snowmobiling, friends and family. He was always a big and strong kid, affectionately known as Austin 'BeastMode' Roberts, and equally known for his hearty laugh, cheerful personality, and kind heart. Always grateful for what he had in life, he never asked for anything. Whether it was 'helping Dad with things,' racing Mom's car at the airport drags, hanging out at Paco's, riding motorcycles, or working on hot rods with Grandpa and Dad, he was happy.

A natural athlete, Austin excelled at sports throughout his life. In his early years he rode horses, placing as High Point in the USA in three different events with the Appaloosa Horse Club. He even qualified for the world championships and placed third against the adults, and at the age of 13, Austin was the world champion in Keyhole. He was a fixture on the offensive and defensive lines of the Spencer Tigers football team. Austin particularly loved the sport of wrestling, including his coaches, teammates, and wrestling family. He demonstrated what it meant to have heart and determination to work hard and improve as an athlete, resulting in an eighth place finish in his first appearance at the state wrestling meet last year. Wanting to give back to and help others find joy and accomplishment from wrestling, he enjoyed being a role model for younger kids entering the sport by working with them at Iowa Great Lakes Wrestling programs, and motivating and coaching his JV and Varsity teammates.

Austin's kind heart was felt by everyone who knew him. Known for making people smile and laugh, doing anything for anyone in need, and always being in a good mood regardless of what may be bothering him, Austin had a great attitude about life.

Austin passed away on December 19, 2015 at Spencer Hospital at the age of 18. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Margaret Schomaker; his great-grandparents: Barney and June Roberts, Violet and Milton Hubbard, Mable and Delbert Schomaker and Betty and Pappy Pasierb.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Travis and Lori Roberts of Dickens, IA; his two sisters, Melany and Shae; maternal grandfather, Mike Schomaker and friend, Robin Gunn of Spencer, IA; paternal grandparents, Denny and Andi Roberts of Dickens, IA; uncles: JR Schomaker of Spencer, IA, and Shawn Roberts and wife, Kelly of Milford, IA; aunts: Heather Podzimek and husband, Tom of Everly, IA and Cristie Roberts of Paragould, AR; other relatives and many friends.
