E. Claire Silliman, Des Moines, died at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines Wednesday, May 27, 1987. Services were held from the Kale Funeral Home in Osceola Saturday, May 30 at 10:30 a.m. The reverend Merlin Nelson of Des Moines officiated. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

E. Claire Silliman was born April 17, 1909, near Medora in Warren County, Iowa, son of Walter Silliman and Mary Stacy Silliman. He attended schools in Medora and on August 11, 1930 was married to Hazel McVey in Leon. Two children were born to this union.

He was employed at A.M.F. (Western Tool) in Des Moines until his retirement in 1971. He was a resident of Des Moines since 1951. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Osceola.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel of Des Moines; son, Duane Silliman and wife, Arleta of Des Moines; daughter, Carmen Jones and husband, Ardith Jones of Osceola; adopted granddaughter, Diana Silliman of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Kevin and Mark Jones of Osceola, Stephen and Terry Silliman of Des Moines and Ronald Grover of Yakima, Washington; nephew, Delman Cornelison of Massachusetts; cousin, Erma Warner and Husband Don of Louisiana; and Five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Minnie and Edna; and one brother, Wayne.
