A sad death of this week was that of Miss Bessie Maude Wharff, daughter of C. A. Wharff, Esq. of Liberty township. At the time of her death she was 16 years and 17 days old. The attending physician, Dr. Fee, of New Virginia, pronounced her disease diphtheria, and a quarantine was established on the premises. The funeral was private, conducted by Horton Bailey undertaker and the remains were buried in the Liberty cemetery.
Miss Wharff was a beautiful and interesting girl, and a very large circle of friends mourn her early death.
