Sara Barnes was born in Missouri and moved to southern Iowa with her father and step-mother, her own mother having died when she was quite young. She has lived in and around Weldon for many years, and all who know her cannot but speak many words of praise for she has been a devout Christian woman.

She was married to William Comer and after his death, she married John Stringer. She was 72 years and 10 months of age. She is survived by her husband, a brother, Mathew Barnes of Ottumwa, a half brother, Henry Barnes of Albia, a step-sister, Maggie Baker of Chillicothe, and several other relatives. She has been a member of the Methodist church since 1889. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Methodist church conducted by Rev. Turner and Rev. Smythe. Interment in the Hebron cemetery.
