—James Cummings died, at Murray Tuesday afternoon, October 3rd, very suddenly, while at work on a barn being built for his son-in-law, John Fivecoats. It is thought a heart trouble he had felt slightly a few months ago terminated his life. He had been around in usual health, and Saturday took much interest in the Park Fair and related to several the story of the knife spoken of elsewhere in The Democrat. His wife died about six years ago, since which he has lived with his daughter, Mrs. Newt. Wilson of Fremont township. Mr. Cummings was a hale appearing man of 72 years, and has two brothers living, John and Samuel whose homes are at Fairfield, and his sister, Mrs. Dare of Osceola. Three daughters and two sons survive him, all but one son living in this county. He is in Omaha. Mr. Cummings was a member of the Christian church and the minister of that denomination at Murray conducted the funeral services at 9 A. M. Thursday, his remains being interred by his wife's in the Prairie Grove cemetery. So has passed without warning, from earth, an old citizen who was well known and respected for his worth and integrity.
