"George William Shough, 67 died at the Clarke County Public Hospital in Osceola, Tuesday, July 16. Services were held from the Kale Funeral Home Friday, July 19 with the Rev. Neville Clayton officiating at the 11 a.m. rites. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. George William Shough was born March 24, 1918 in Blue Mountain, Arkansas, son of Clifford E. Shough and Iza B. Barber [should have said Herber] Shough. He attended schools in Burns, Kansas and on December 5, 1939 was married to June F. Field in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Eight children were born to this union. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Osceola. Survivors include his wife, June of Osceola; son, Wayne E. Shough and wife, Trish of Villisca; son, Douglas M. Shough and wife, Jane of Omaha, Nebraska; son, William H. Shough and wife, Linda of Angola, Indiana; daughter, Judith K. Shough of Des Moines; son, Edward S. Shough and wife, Diane of Osceola'; son Michael G. Shough of Osceola; son, Rex L. Shough and wife, Mary of Creston; son, Daniel R. Shough and wife, Linda of Lubbock, Texas; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Ary M. Shough of El Dorado, Kansas; sister, Eva L. Glenn of Sanger, California; sister, Iza B. Reynolds of Lubbock, Texas; and sister, Amy L. Nickels of El Dorado, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Herber E. Shough."
