A celebration of life was held in Richmond, Va. at the Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church and the Christian Church in New Virginia for former New Virginia resident, Russell D. "Russ" Bodtke, 44. Mr. Bodtke died in the Chippenham Memorial Hospital in Richmond. Burial was in Bethel Chapel Cemetery in Clarke County.
Mr. Bodtke graduated from Interstate 35 High School in 1973. He had lived in New Virginia, Winterset and Des Moines before moving to Richmond in 1989.
Mr. Bodtke was a kind and loving father to his son, Jimmy and a true friend to many people. He touched the lives of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Veda and Elmer Bodtke.
Mr. Bodtke is survived by his son, James Robert "Jimmy" Bodtke; his fiance, Betty Anne Richardson of Richmond; two brothers, Jim Bodtke and his wife, Tracy Bodtke, of Cabot, Ark. and Bob Bodtke and his wife, Patty Bodtke, of Missouri Valley; six nieces and nephews and six great nieces and nephews.
