Thelbert Blakely
Thelbert Blakely, son of Taylor Blakely and Kate Conger Blakely, was born in Kansas City, Mo., Nov. 15, 1873, and passed away at the Clarke county hospital at Osceola, Iowa, on Monday, Dec. 12, 1960, at the age of 87 years.

He received his education in the Kansas City school, moving to Clarke county at the age of 17, and has been a resident of the county for the last 70 years. He followed the occupation of farming. He has spent the last 23 years in the home of his son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Blakely.

He was a member of the Methodist church.

Mr. Blakely is survived by a son, Harry of Osceola, Iowa, and a daughter, Mrs. Arlene Pfander of Newton, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Blakely; a son-in-law, LaVerne Pfander; a stepson, Charles Blakely of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren, Mrs. Judith Ann Mongar of Omaha, Nebr., Gary Lee and Patsy Sue Blakely of Osceola, Larry and Pamela Pfander and Charles Blakely Jr. of Des Moines. Also a sister in-law, Mrs. Lona Blakely of Grant Pass, Ore., and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, six brothers and a sister, and a grandson.

He was a kind and loving father. He took pride in his grandchildren and they were his greatest joy. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held Dec. 14 in the Webster Funeral Home with Rev. George Pennington officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Chapel cemetery.
