Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Wick, a pioneer citizen of Murray, were held from the Baptist church on Sunday afternoon, May 17.

Emma Hubbard was born in Kentucky May 16, 1846 and passed away Friday, May 15, 1846 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edith Donner, at Lorimor, where she had been cared for the past year. Had she lived until Saturday she would have been 96 years old. It had been the custom of the family for many years to make a real celebration of the anniversary of their mother’s birth.

She and Mr. Wick were among the first settlers in the town of Murray and she was always proud of the part they had in the building up of the town. She was a kind friend and neighbor, always willing and anxious to help in times of sickness and trouble. She was the mother of six children, all living, who with the grandchildren and a host of friends will always remember her as one of the dearest people they ever knew. Many out of town friends attended the funeral.
