Died, at the home of Randolph McCutchan, September 18, 1894, at 6 o’clock A.M., Lewis McCutchan, aged thirty-two years, six months and six days. He was born April 13, 1862, in Clarke county, Iowa; was the son of William and Margaret McCutchan. No doubt but some will remember reading the obituary of his father who died just one month ago at his son, Lewis’. He leaves two brothers and one sister to mourn his loss. Lewis has been afflicted for a number of years with asthma and disease of the bronchial tubs that it is thought finally culminated in that fatal disease consumption.

He was converted and joined the U.B. church in ’83 under Rev. D.B. Long. He was conscious to the very last and expressed his willingness to go. He requested that D.B. Long should preach his funeral and that the misses Carlton should conduct the singing. He selected his favorite hymns which they sung. The funeral was preached by the Chew school house by Rev. Long, assisted by Rev. Zyke, after which he ws laid to rest in the Gregg cemetery to await the resurrection morn. He has gone to meet the loved ones gone before, where sickness, sorrow, pain and death are felt and feared no more. Wile dying he said to Mr. Myers who was at his bed side, “Is this death?” “Yes,” he said. Lewis replied, “It is simply the flesh growing weather."
