Harry Duree
Dies Monday

Funeral services for Harry Ancel Duree will be held Thursday, March 2 from the St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Osceola. Vigil services were held Wednesday, March 1 from the Webster-Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. The 10:30 a. m. funeral services will be conducted by the Fathers Connelly, McIlhon and Lorenz.

Harry Ancel Duree was born November 27, 1892, in Hayesville, Iowa, son of William Anderson and Phoebe Elizabeth Utterbach Duree. He was educated in the Keokuk Schools and farmed around the Woodburn area since 1912. He was united in marriage to Rebecca L. Viertz on December 26, 1916. Eight children were born to this union.

Surviving relatives include: daughter, Laurene M. Smith and husband, Warren of Garden Grove; son, Loren Joe and wife Anna L. of Gladstone, Missouri; daughter, Betty Swan and husband, Darrel of Osceola; son, Leo and wife, Erma of Chariton; daughter, Wylla M. Burgus and husband Dale of Murray; son, Ralph and wife, Marion of Eldridge; daughter, Theresa Patterson and husband, J. L. of Lucas; daughter, Naomi M. Sly and husband, James of Davenport; 30 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Alece Matthews of Beaumont, California; and sister-in-law, Nellie Fitzpatrick of Chariton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca in 1968; one granddaughter; three sisters; and four brothers.
