He was united in marriage to Bessie Viertz January 20, 1904. To this union were born eight children, five boys: Merle of Osceola, Hallie of Des Moines, Kenneth of the U.S. Army, Camp Crowder, Mo., Cecil of U.S. navy, Keith of Woodburn, and three girls, Mrs. Arma Danner of Osceola, Mrs. Josephine O'Neall of Woodburn, and Mrs. Claudine Westbrook of Des Moines, all of whom with eight grandchildren survive him.

He is also mourned by seven brothers and three sisters, Jack, John, James, Edward, Keith and Mrs. Ella Harlan, all of Clarke county, Frank of U. S. Army, Mrs. Nellit Hitt of Le Roy, and Mrs. Martha Marquis of Des Moines. One brother, Joseph, preceded him in death a number of years ago.

Funeral services were conducted from St. Marys church in Woodburn, March 15. Pallbearers were four sons and two sons-in-law. Father Gannon officiated. Burial in St. Marys cemetery.

No funeral gloom, my dears, when
I am gone,
Corpse-gazins, tears, black raiment,
graveyard grimness.
Think of me as withdrawn into the
dimness, yours still, you mine.
Remember all the best of our past
moments and forget the rest,
And so to where I wait come
gently on.

Card of Thanks
The kindness and sympathy of neighbors and friends in our recent sorrow will always remain with us a precious memory. Our sincere-thanks and gratitude for all those comforting acts.
Mrs. Roy Davenport
and Children.
