Death Calls Roy Smith After Illness from Heart Trouble
Roy Smith, who was born and grew to manhood in this community, later moving to Charles City, passed away Wednesday of last week at the home of his brother Nelson Smith, a few miles north of Nashua.
Herbert Roy Smith was born on the old home farm in Chickasaw township, Jan. 13, 1882, and passed away at the home of his brother, Nelson Smith, on the same farm Sept. 5 1934, at the age of 52 years, 7 months and 23 days.
He had been in poor health for some time, due to heart trouble, and death came as a relief from pain and suffering.
He was united in marriage to Miss Emma Sutherland of Nashua, on August 27, 1902. To this union were bo{missing}.
He was obliged to give up his trucking business about the 1st of last November on account of his health.
Besides his family he is survived by his father, A. F. Smith, one brother Nelson Smith, of Nashua, and one sister, Mrs. Rena Massey of Bassett.
Roy engaged in different occupations during his life time and met and made any friends, who join with sorrowing relatives to mourn his death.
After a short prayer at the Nelson Smith home, the funeral was held at the Little Brown Church, Friday afternoon, with Rev. G. A. Hess of Charles City officiating. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery. A large number of the deceased friends from Charles City were present at the funeral.
