Mrs. Johanna Dee Dies

Last Tuesday evening at 10 o'clock occured the death of Mrs. Johanna Dee on Linn Avenue, New Hampton. Thus passed away one of the good, true, noble lives of our city. A life that has been full of faith and whose long journey has been marked with success.

The deceased was born in Tipperary County, Ireland in 1825. She came to America in 1847 and was married to Mr. James Dee at New York in 1849. They moved to Rock County, Wis., where they resided for ten years after, which they moved to Chickasaw County and settled on a farm. Mr. Dee died on the old Jacksonville township homestead some years ago, after which she and her daughter Mary moved to this city to reside.

Several children were born to this union, those surviving her being James and John of California, Thomas of Jacksonville, Mrs. Ellen Lydon of Minneapolis and Miss Mary at home. One son, William, died some years ago.

The funeral services were held at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and internment in the parish cemetery, Rev. Father Slattery conducting the service.

The surviving children, with the exception of James and John, were at their mother's bedside to care for her and make smooth the way to the grave of a most devoted Christian mother.
