Father Probst died at North Washington. With the passing of Father Probst that county has lost one of the most rugged pioneer figures. He went there in 1870, being its first resident Catholic priest. Father Probst never served in any parish except North Washington.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Rev. Fr. John Probst who was born April 22, 1838 and died Sept. 2, 1913. He is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery in North Washington.
