John Henry Orman.
On Friday, August 31, the Angel of Daath entered another of our homes and took away the husband and father, after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Orman's health began to fail noticeably last June and on the 3rd of July he took to his bed, since which time the transition from life to death proceeded slowly but surely until the end. The cause of death was typhoid fever complicated with lung and heart trouble. The birthplace of deceased was Clinton, Wis., and the date of birth Feb. 3, 1866. When but a lad he came with his parents to this county and made his home here ever since. He was united in marriage with Miss Mary O'Neil Nov. 26, 1889, and she became the mother of the two little ones who now with the stricken wife are left without the strong protecting arm of husband and father. Industrious and kind hearted, the deceased had many friends. He was always ready with a pleasant word and there was no malice in his nature. His affections were centered in his home life and his labors to provide for his loved ones were faithful and arduous. The funeral was held from St. Joseph's church Monday morning, conducted by the Catholic Order of Foresters, and high mass was celebrated by the pastor, Rev. R. Slattery. The remains were laid to rest in the parish cemetery, whither a large assemblage gathered to pay their last tribute of respect. The pallbearers were John Foley, F. A. O'Connor, M. F. Condon, Dr. Welch, Matt. Kennedy and J. E. Jaeger. To the widow and orphans are extended the condolences of many friends. Besides the members of the family here, relatives from abroad who were here during the last scenes were Mrs. John Cassidy of Manchester, and Miss Ella Orman of Dubuque, sisters of de-ceased, and Mike Orman of Canby, Minn., and George Orman of Owatonna, Minn., brothers; Mrs. Herbert Montgomery, sister of Mrs. Orman, and husband, of Osage, and Charles O'Neil, a brother, and wife, of Elma.
