The Obituary Reeord. NOBLE
Mrs. J. E. Noble died at her residence in this city last Friday evening, aged 53 years, 2 months. and 4 days. Emma Rebecca Kremer was born in Chambersburg, Penn., March 7, 1847. She was the only daughter and eldest child of Margaretta Keller and Rev. F. W. Kremer, D. D. While still a child her parents removed to Lebanon, Pa., where her father became pastor of the First Reformed church. She there grew to womanhood and was generally and greatly beloved by everybody. While yet quite young "she lost her best earthly friend, her mother, but the place was beautifully and well supplied by her father's maiden sister, Miss R. E Kremer, and her brothers Edward and Leighton, the former being, indeed, a second mother to her. On December 19, 1867, she was married to Joseph E. Noble, who survives her, and went with him to live at Waterside, Pennsylvania. Eight children were born, seven of whom live to mourn her loss. In 1887 the family came west and settled in Nashua, but the next year removed to this city, which has since been their home.
Deceased was never very strong physically and in later years has frequently been quite unwell, yet no one thought that she was so near the end of her life. Her death was entirely unexpected and was a shock, not only to the entire community, but a terrible one to her family and near friends. The deceased had a kindly and sympathetic nature and was always ready and willing to assist those in sickness or distress. She was a good wife, and affectionate mother and kind and helpful neighbor and friend. Her funeral was held at the family home on Sunday afternoon and was attended by a large concourse of people. Her pastor, Rev. Pottle, conducted the services and preached an excellent sermon, basing his remarks on the 23d Psalm, "The Lord is My Shepard," etc. The male quartet furnished the music and sang in a very touching manner her favorite hymn, "Jesus Lover of My Soul." The procession to the cemetery was headed by the Fire Department and Phoenix lodge of Odd Fellows. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful. She has gone to her rest and reward, but will not be forgotten by those near and dear to her.
