Obituary.
Miss Jennie Thompson was born February 26, 1869, in Chickasaw county, Iowa, and died March 20, 1899, a few days over 30 years of age. She was the second daughter of Thomas and Jennie Thompson. When she was twelve years of age her father died, leaving herself, her sister and mother to care for the family. During the past fifteen years, ungrudgingly and faithfully has she labored in the best families in the city, her sole care and anxiety being to provide for her mother and family. She was always kind, ladylike, obliging, true and worthy of these beautiful lines by Alice Carey:

True worth is in being, not seeming—
In doing, each day that goes by,
Some little good—not in the dreaming
Of great things to do by and by.
For whatever men say in blindness.
And in spite of the fancies of youth.
There’s nothing so kingly as kindness,
And nothing so royal as truth.

Jennie was a member of the Lutheran church and a most exemplary one. The interment was n Chickasaw county beside her father whose remains have rested there since July 1881.
The sympathy of the public was shown by the sorrowful faces at the family home at her furneral{sic}, for which kindly sympathy and words of comfort the mother and family desire to return their grateful acknowledgments.
