Obituary for Richard Tieskotter

Richard H. Tieskotter age 70 of Fredericksburg, Iowa. The angels called at 1:30 a.m. to take Richard from his earthly home to his heavenly home on March 13, 2017.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2017, at Assumption Parish, Little Turkey with Msgr. Carl Schmitt celebrating the Mass. The pall will be placed by his wife Marlene and his children and grandchildren. Presenting the offertory gifts will be Zachary McDonald, Calista McDonald, Julius Tieskotter and Alekzander Tieskotter. Mass Servers will be Serafeane Tieskotter and Caitlyn McDonald. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Little Turkey with Curt Schmitz, Tom Tieskotter, Tracy Dart, Cheryl Young, Alan Zweibohmer, Herbie Zweibohmer, Harvey Zweibohmer and Brian Scott as pallbearers.

Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Friday at the FUNERAL HOME in New Hampton.

Richard H. Tieskotter, son of Andrew and Bernadine (Tillman) Tieskotter, was born on August 25, 1946. He attended grade school through high school at Trinity Catholic School in Protivin, IA graduating in May of 1964. Richard then attended Iowa Teacher’s College (now University of Northern Iowa) in Cedar Falls before being drafted in the U.S. Army in 1965. While in the Army, he was stationed in Germany working in Communications and received an honorable discharge in 1969.

On April 28, 1969 he met the soul mate and love of his life, Marlene Novak. Richard and Marlene were united in marriage on August 25, 1973 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, IA. To this union, three children were born: Karen Marie (October 1975), Charles John (February 1979) and Christine (March 1983). Richard purchased the farm and started farming five miles north of Lawler in 1973, owned and operated Tieskotter TV & Repair and worked at Featherlite in Cresco for 15 years before he retired in 2009. While Richard enjoyed farming and tinkering with just about anything, his pride and joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren! The couple moved to Fredericksburg, IA in July 2012.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Marlene; his daughter, Karen (Christian) from Nashua, IA; son Charles (Andrea) from Rochester, MN; his six grandchildren, Zachary, Caitlyn and Calista McDonald along with Serafeane, Alekzander and Julius Tieskotter will miss their Papa dearly. Richard’s siblings: Dennis (Kathy) Tieskotter, Lawler, Mark (Diane) Tieskotter, Lime Springs, Mary (Joe) Roybal, Platteville, CO, Marti (Marv) Andera, Cresco, Roy Tieskotter, New Hampton, Daniel Tieskotter, Guttenberg, Maxine (Robert) Friedman, St. Ansgar, Jerry Tieskotter, Lawler; sisters-in-law, Charlene Zweibohmer of Ossian, IA, Arlene (Bob) Scott of Wilton, IA; along with aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews.

Proceeded in death by his parents Andrew and Bernadine Tieskotter, his in-laws Julius C. and Georgiana Novak, his daughter Christine, his brother David and sister Marlene, his brothers-in-law Gerald Schmitz, Herbert Zweibohmer; his nephews Jeffery and Jon Schmitz and David Scott.
