Gwen Martine (Nitz) Croft
April 15, 1950 --- February 8, 1995Mrs. Gwen Nitz Croft, 44, of Mason City, and formerly of Larrabee, Iowa died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 1995 at 2:05 p.m. in the north Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City due to cardiac arrest.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. from the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Rev. Gordon Elrick will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday with the family present from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday evening. She was born April 18, 1950 in Cherokee to Robert and Elaine (Horstman) Nitz. She graduated from Sutherland High School in 1968. She attended Morningside College in Sioux City and Iowa State University at Ames. She graduated from Bellevue Community College with a degree in business. She had worked for Target Stores in Ames and Omaha, Neb. She had lived in Mason City for the past three years, prior to this in Rapid City, S.D.; Omaha, Neb.; and was originally from the Larrabee area. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was active in the Boy Scouts program.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents. She is survived by one son, Aaron Croft of Mason City, Iowa; her companion, Larry Bear of Mason City; her parents, Robert and Elaine Nitz of Larrabee; one brother, John Nitz and his wife, Ramona of Lisle, Ill.; also three nephews, Robert, Eric, and J. J. Nitz.
