WIREMAN MILLER, FORMER REPRESENTATIVE, DIES

Wireman Miller of Marcus, one of the pioneers of Cherokee county and a man who had played a prominent part in its affairs, has closed his life’s career, his funeral being held Wednesday. The services were largely attended by the people from all parts of the county, who gathered to pay a last tribute.

Mr. Miller represented Cherokee county in the lower house of the Iowa legislature, serving four successive terms, and played an important part in securing the location of the state hospital in this city.

He was born in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, April 20, 1845. He served during the Civil war in company D, Eleventh Iowa infantry, and was with Sherman, in the famous march to the sea. After the close of the war he returned to his home in Cedar County and in 1870 located in Amherst Township, Cherokee county.

The following relatives from away were present at the funeral: The decedent’s only brother, M. H. Miller of Tipton, Iowa; Mrs. Blanche of Tipton, Iowa, a niece; Mrs. N. Depew of Morning side, a sister-in-law; Mrs. Edith Adams of Morningside, a niece; Orville G. Miller, and wife, of Cherokee, nephew and niece; Maxwell Miller, of Emmetsburg, Iowa,, a nephew; Mr. and Mrs. Will Wirt, of Parker, S. Dak., daughter and son-in-law; Mrs. Maude Mann, of Onaway, Iowa, a niece; Mrs. Lew Akers, of West Liberty, Iowa, a niece; Mrs. Carrie Shermon, of Cherokee.

Friends from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gracey, Mr. and Mrs. James Gracey, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Alseph, Mrs. J. Arnold, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Rae, Dick Smith, Mr. and Mrs. D.W. McNeal, Miss Ella Forsythe, all of Cherokee; and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Maltby, of Aurelia; and Mr. and Mrs. Lew Wright, of Quimby
