Donald L. Peterson, 68, of Cherokee, died Thursday, March 4, 2004 at 11 p.m. in the Sioux Valley memorial Hospital in Cherokee following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, march 9 at 2 p.m. at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Rev. Ray Hampton will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery in Cherokee. There will be military rites at the cemetery by L.A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W. Visitation will be on Monday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home.

Donald was born April 13, 1935 in Cherokee to Leonard and Elaine (Krout) Peterson. He was baptized at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in 1947. He graduated from Washington High School in 1954 and then attended the DeVry Institute in Chicago for two years. He served in the United States Air Force for four years. He was a partner in Peterson & Sons Plumbing & Heating in Cherokee for many years having been a resident of Cherokee most of his life. He enjoyed attending sporting events.

He was preceded in death by his father Leonard Peterson, a nephew Matthew Monaghan and a great nephew Austin Bradford.

He is survived by his mother, Elaine Peterson of Cherokee; one brother, Daniel Peterson and his wife Linda of Cherokee; four sisters: Ruth Hoke of Galeta, Calif., Mary Frances Loy and her husband Paul of Denver; Kay Heidemann and her husband Robert of Collins; Susie Monaghan of Mesa, Ariz.; also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
