Jo Ann M. Woodall, 63, of Cherokee, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2001 at 5:20 p.m. at her home at 4786 Highway 59 following a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 3 at 10;30 a.m. from the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee. Rev. Gary Armstrong and Lay Pastor Bruce Rapp will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the Church on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 - 5 p.m. and on Monday from 9 a. m. - 9 p.m. , with the family present on Monday evening from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home. Carnation Chapter #165 will have Eastern Star Services on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home.

She was born on February 16, 1938 at Shenandoah, Iowa to Albert and Evea (Savidge) Griffith. She graduated from Cherokee Washington High School in 1956 and then attended Northwest School of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 2 years. She was married to William J. Woodall on June 24, 1957 at Cherokee, Iowa. She had worked for Dr. Richard Berge in Aurelia for 30 years, also for the Cherokee Family Practice for a short time and for 11 years had managed the Cherokee branch of Med-Equip, retiring on September 26, 2000. She had been a resident of Cherokee since 1944 and prior to this had lived in Harlan, Iowa and was originally from Shenandoah. She was a member of th St. Paul's United Methodist Church, and Carnation Chapter #165, Order of Eastern Star in which she had held various offices over the years. She was also a member of Past Matrons. She enjoyed crafts, camping, gardening, going to garage sales and collecting antiques.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Steven Woodall, in 1976.

She is survived by her husband, William and 2 daughters: Gayle and Steve Gustafson, Cherokee, and their children Dan, Matthew and Bradley; Gwyn and Hal Voss of Hartley, Iowa and their children Kory and Hank; 1 brother Ronnie and Beret Griffith of San Carlos, California; several in-laws: Jim and Ruth Woodall, Janice Woodall, Paul Woodall, John Woodall, and Beverly Ritz; 4 nieces: Dana Kaldas, Kim Seliger, Julie Woodall, Kay Fjoslien; 4 nephews: Brian Griffith, Jerry Woodall, Jimmy Woodall and Tommy Woodall.
