Clear Lake - Funeral services will be a 11 a.m. Monday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel here for Edward Duregger (Sr.), 94, of Clear Lake, who died Friday (Aug 28, 1981) in a Clear Lake nursing home.

Officiating will be the Rev. Lyle Lieder, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be after 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The family requests memorials be give to Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

Mr. Duregger was born Oct. 8, 1886 in Brazil, Ind. He was a coal miner in his hometown and helped form a mining union there. He moved to Iowa in 1914 to farm and started Oakwood Grocery Store in Clear Lake in 1933,

He married Alice Hoffman in October 1910, in Brazil, Ind.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. John (Gladys) Henn and Mrs. Dale (Ida Mae) Hill, both of Clear Lake; Mrs. Dale (Helen) Sorensen, Alden; Mrs. LaVern (Irene) Sorenson, Castor Valley, Calif., and Mrs. Harlan (Mary) Avery, Garner; seven sons, Albert, Fred, Leo and Virgil, all of Clear Lake, Robert, Hayward, Calif., Edward Jr., Buffalo Center, and Larry, Orlando, Fla.; 47 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Maynard Hampton, Orlando, Fla.
