Suicide of a Horse Dealer.
Mason City, Iowa, Sept. 10.—George R. Smith, a well known dealer in fast horses and senior member of the firm of Smith Bros., butchers, committed suicide at the fair grounds, taking morphine. He left letters stating that he had become discouraged and would end his life. He was forty four years old and a bachelor.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born March 22, 1857 and died Sept. 9, 1899. He is buried in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery.
