Gary was born on March 6, 1955 in Mason City, the son of Richard and Junette (Gentz) Burrier. Growing up in Mason City, Gary attended elementary, middle and high school, graduating from Mason City High School in 1973. Following graduation, Gary went right into the workforce, beginning at Coca-Cola for 15 years. He was currently working for Winnebago in Forest City, a career he held for 30+ years.

Gary enjoyed playing cards, playing games on the computer and listening to music. He was an avid Twins fan making many trips to Minneapolis to watch them play live. Gary looked forward to trips to Valley Fair, no matter who would go with him. He could often be found watching a new movie, but the most important thing to Gary was his family. Time spent together was treasured.

Gary was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Gary is survived by his mother, Junette; brother, Daryl; his sister Cathy (Jim) Dodge; his niece Clarissa Krominga, and two nephews, Justin (Callista) Dodge and Jeremy Dodge; great-nieces and nephews; and his aunt and uncles, Roger and Violet Baldwin, Roger Gentz and Fred Samuelson; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
