William C. Hoveland

December 20, 1945 - November 9, 2018

Our rugged yet gentle husband, father, brother, and friend has left us. We thought him immortal, surviving everything life threw at him. William (Bill) Charles Hoveland left us on November 9th.

He was a gentle, giving person who helped anyone, and the warmth projected by his expressive eyes and warm smile will always be remembered. He enjoyed creating with his hands, working wood and doing outdoor projects. God matched him and Jan together, partners through thick and thin. They spent a lifetime together enjoying and living with nature, building their cozy cabin in the woods and traveling on adventures. It is impossible to think of Bill without also feeling Jan's presence.

Bill was born in 1945 to Arnold and Mildred (Thiemann) Hoveland and married Janice Teeple in 1965. Bill and Jan's two daughters, Amy (Rodrigo) Ibanez and Michelle (Matt) Waters, and four grandchildren, Daniel and Jennifer Ibanez, and Alexander and Elise Waters, as well as Bill's sister, Susan (Bob) Hastings, and many family and friends, will hold his memory in their hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard (Joan) Hoveland, and sister Gloria (Jack) Finley. Family and friends were his treasures.

Bill worked for IBM in Rochester, MN, and the DNR in Spooner, WI, where he was able to apply his technical talents. His work with the DNR took him to many remote areas in the North Woods, where he provided technical support to allow for the preservation of the land he loved.

Thank you to the Mayo Hospice team for their loving, caring ways. Such a special service provided by very special people. God bless.

Memorials may be directed to Mayo Clinic Hospice-Eau Claire, 1221 Whipple St, Eau Claire, WI 54701, or Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary, N2384 Hunt Hill Rd, Sarona, WI 54870 in Bill's name.

Funeral services will take place at 11 am on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Hulke Family Funeral & Cremation Services. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10 am until the time of services.

Friends and family may offer condolences online at www.hulkefamilyfh.com .
