Mason City -- Louis Harold Collins, 77, of Mason City, Iowa died Wednesday December 30, 2015 at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday January 4, 2016 at the Faith Baptist Church, 1807 S. Kentucky, Mason City, Iowa with Rev. Greg Gosnell officiating, with military honors provided by Mason City Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa. Family will greet friends one hour before the service. Family suggests memorials to Louis Harold Collins Memorial Fund.

Louis was born Sept. 11, 1938 in Yankton, South Dakota the son of Alfred and Merle (Stricklette) Collins. He graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1957. Following high school he attended and graduated from North Central Bible College, Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1963 with a degree in Theology.

He enlisted in the United States Navy on December 1963 and served during the Vietnam Conflict and retired from the Navy on December of 1983. Following his discharge he moved to Mason City, Iowa.

He married Mary Lee Smith May 9, 1970 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and to this union had two sons Gregory and David. She preceded him in death on January 21, 1997. He married Marjorie A. Jennings October 4, 2004, in Mason City, Iowa.

He worked in various nursing homes in Mason City as a nurse's aide and also worked at Service Master.

He enjoyed putting puzzles together; collecting study books; making furniture and taking apart old furniture refinishing and putting back together and donating them to the Salvation Army. Louis was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Mason City, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife Marge Collins, Mason City, Iowa; two sons Gregory (Barbara) Collins, Greene, Iowa and David (Katie) Collins, Britt, Iowa; seven grandchildren Caleb Collins, LoriAnne Collins, Elizabeth Collins, Melinda Collins, Bryce Collins, Xavier Collins and Mary Collins; step son Jim (Tammy) Hansen, Ocala, Florida; two step grandchildren Blaine and Levi Hansen; 7 siblings James Collins, Arizona, Ronald (Barbara) Collins, Rockford, Illinois, David (Connie) Collins, Ozark, Missouri, Joyce Hauman, Concord, California, Merle Summers, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Donna Collins, Springfield, Missouri, Dale Collins, California and JoAnn Jessip, North Sioux City, South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Mary; four brothers Denny, Richard and John Collins and Bob Lake.
