Ruth Luverna (Cox) Clemens, 81, died at her home in Ventura Heights, Friday September 24, 2010.

A funeral service for Ruth will be held at 1:30 Monday September 27th at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th Street, Clear Lake, with Pastor Rhoda Preston officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th Street, Clear Lake. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Monday at the chapel. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, highway 18 West, Mason City.

Ruth was born the daughter of Charles & Emalena (Watson) Cox on September 13, 1929, in Mason City, IA. Ruth attended and received her education in the Mason City School system, graduating from Mason City High School. Ruth was united in marriage to Charles Clemens, March 19, 1948, at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Mason City. After their marriage, Ruth traveled with her husband while he was stationed in the Navy. After his discharge they returned to Mason City before moving to Ventura in 1955, residing in Ventura for 55 years.

Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Ruth enjoyed sewing, boating, snowmobiling, dancing, gardening and canning, but her great love and enjoyment was her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a member of the Ventura Riders Snowmobile Club, holding snowmobile conventions in Mason City.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles Clemens of Ventura; two sons, Steve (Kathy) Clemens of Mason City, and Rusty (Carol) Clemens of Ventura; six grandchildren, Jeff (Genevieve) Clemens of Garner, Jennifer (Tony) Trettin of Mason City, Nathan Clemens of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Matthew (Jody) Clemens of Clear Lake, Jeremy (Sarah) Clemens of Mason City, and Jason Clemens of Mason City; six great-grandchildren, Jay Clemens of Garner, Harley Trettin of Mason City, Arthur Clemens of Mason City, Aiden, Hailey, and Mackenzie Clemens all of Clear Lake; three sisters, Gertrude "Goldie" Bartusek of Old Town, FL, and Donna Pierce, originally from Clear Lake, and Carole Bacon of Ft. Collins, CO; a brother, Francis Cox of Ellendale, N.D.; as well as many nieces and nephews and other extended family members and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald Clemens who died in November 1999; three sisters, Zona Jenkins, Patricia Flatness, and June (Patterson) Faught; and four brothers, William Cox, Charles "Eddie" Cox, Jackie Cox, and Glen Cox.
