Ralph Charles Cassady went home to be with the Lord on June 7th at the age of 76 years. Ralph was born on June 3, 1942, the middle child of Raymond & Marjorie (Eshbaugh) Cassady. He had an older brother Mike & a younger sister Barb. On August 16, 1969 Ralph married Barbara Louise Sievert at Fourth Baptist Church in Minneapolis. They adopted 1 son, Timothy Charles Cassady, born on Sept. 23, 1975. Ralph and Barb separated but still remain friends.

Ralph's wishes included his cremation and interment in the Whiting, IA cemetery which sits on land donated by his grandfather.

Ralph was greatly thankful to have his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in his life. Ralph invited Jesus into his heart on June 23, 1966.

Ralph graduated from Mapleton, IA High School in 1960; State College of Iowa 1964, and UNI in 1973. All provided Ralph with some very special memories and very special friends.

Ralph taught school for 38 years (32 in Mason City Schools), had 2 programs on KCMR radio for over 15 years, was a volunteer probation officer in the Adult Department of Correction for 11 years, judged speech contests for IHSSA for 24 years; RSVP. Ralph helped elementary students in reading, he also did private tutoring for many years. Ralph also worked part time at Sears. All these activities Ralph remembered fondly and with thanksgiving.

Ralph continued to learn and grow at First Baptist Church in Rockwell. The Thursday night group was supportive and encouraging. Ralph also enjoyed writing Christian short stories and plays.

'Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not into thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.' Proverbs 3:5&6.

Ralph's heart has always had a special place for dogs. He loved the Dalmation breed. He rescued 4 of them over the years. They were all named Bandit. Each one was a constant companion showing unconditional love & loyalty.

Ralph was proceeded in death by his parents, both sets of grandparents, 2 uncles and 3 aunts.

The survivors include Barb Cassady, son Timothy Cassady and Josh Cassady, two grandchildren, Justice Timothy and Sheyanne Nicole, brother Mike (Seattle, WA), sister Barb (Minneapolis, MN) and many cousins.

Memorial service will be held at Rockwell Baptist Church on Thursday, June 14th at 10:30am.

Armstrong Funeral Home, Mapleton, IA is in charge of arrangements.
