MASON CITY - Calla J. Cahill, 90, of Mason City died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Dennis Cahill and the Rev. Craig Steimel con-celebrating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Should friends desire, memorials may be left to Hospice of North Iowa.

Calla J. Cahill was born June 8, 1920, on a farm near Clear Lake, the youngest child of William Frederick and Rosella Jane (Carothers) Badker. She married Henry (Hank) Cahill on Feb. 5, 1940, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mason City.

Calla grew up in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School in the class of 1938. She worked over 40 years for Montgomery Ward, in the retail store until its closing, then the catalog store until its closing in 1985. She loved the outdoors, horseback riding, dog and cats, gardening and flowers. Family was most important to her and she loved being with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Survivors include her one daughter, Judy (Terry) Severson, Billings, Mont.; two sons, Jim (Pat) Cahill, Ankeny, and Donald Cahill, Mason City; seven grandchildren, Shannon Lamberti, Shelley Starr, Scott Cahill, Steve Cahill, Tim Severson, Amy Severson and Chad Cahill; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Hank in 1994; four sisters, Phyllis, Marie, Lola and Berniece; and three brothers, Merlin, Roy and Kenneth.
