MASON CITY — Ruth G. Gray, 84, of 302 Second St. N.E., died Sunday (April 20, 2003) at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., with the Rev. Dennis Cahill and Monsignor Joseph J. Slepicka officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. with a Scriptural wake service at 6 p.m. followed with a rosary at 6:30 p.m.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Holy Family Catholic Church in lieu of flowers.

Ruth was born Sept. 4, 1918, in Belmond, Iowa, to Jack and Luella (Parker) Finn. She grew up and attended school in Belmond, graduating from the Belmond High School. On Sept. 18, 1937, Ruth was united in marriage to Harold C. Gray in Belmond. A short time later they moved to Mason City where she spent the rest of her life.

Ruth was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She devoted her life to her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to be called great granny.

Ruth is survived by two sons, Larry Gray and his wife, Donna, of Mason City, and Dennis Gray of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren, Terri Kuntz and her husband, David, of Mason City, Tammy Hansen and her husband, Russ, of Cedar Falls, Kelli Thorton and her husband, Jim, of Arlington, Texas, Thomas Gray of Austin, Texas, and Stephi Gray of Fort Worth, Texas; eight great-grandchildren, Cassie, Nicole, and Lindsey Kuntz, Ryan and Tyler Hansen, and Paul, Chandler, and Alex Thorton.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, in 1988; and two brothers, Leland and Donald Finn.
