MASON CITY — Jack Clifton Graney, 71, of 120 27th St. S.W., died Wednesday (May 14, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 2502 S. Jefferson Ave., with the Rev. Joel Dahlen officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St.Joseph Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E.

Jack C. Graney was born Feb. 3, 1926, in Mason City, son of Clifton and Loretta M. (Kelly) Graney. He married Elsie M. Nelson on Sept. 15, 1946, in Crystal Lake.

Jack served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was business manager for several years for IBEW #432. Since retirement from Interstate Power, he and his wife spent winters in Texas and Arizona.

Jack loved hunting and fishing trips to Canada with his sons and grandsons and morning coffee with his lifetime friend, Joe Whalen. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #733.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Graney of Mason City; three children, Kelly Graney and his wife, Karen, of Hampton; Karla Strong and her husband, Kent, of Aurora, Colo., and Kevin Graney and his wife, Pamela, of Rockford, Ill.; six grandchildren, Matt and Alison Strong, both of Aurora, Colo.; Kyle and Kasey Graney of Hampton, and Jacquie and Kevin Graney, both of Rockford, Ill.; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Kay Graney of Hampton; one sister, Barbara Sasse and her husband, Russel, of Robbinsdale, Minn.; one brother, Jerry Graney of Mason City; and one niece, Sandra Nowak of Minneapolis, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bob Graney; and one nephew, Mike Sasse.
