MASON CITY -- Kay "Janet" (Cooling) Englehart Gleason, 75, of Mason City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at Epiphany Parish Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 North Adams Ave., Mason City, with an Epiphany Parish Priest officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Dougherty. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St., N.E., Mason City, where a Scriptural Wake Service will be at 6:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of North Iowa.

Janet Gleason was born in Dougherty on Sept. 3, 1939, to Francis and Aileen (Coyle) Cooling. She attended the Rockford Sr. High and graduated in 1958. Janet was married to Jerry Gleason. Their special bond of marriage was blessed by a tribal chief in Africa, again in the presence of family and friends at Lake Michigan, Chicago. Prior to Jerry's passing their marriage was blessed by a Catholic priest in their Chicago home.

Janet enjoyed many things in life including her travels to Africa, her homes in Arizona and Florida, golfing, bowling. She was a big Chicago Bulls fan, she enjoyed going to NASCAR races with her brother Don Cooling, and enjoyed her good times at the casinos. Her special times were those spent with family, friends and grandchildren. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and the VFW No. 733. Her jobs included being a dispatcher for the Mason City Police Department, spent many years as a flight attendant for AmericaWest in Phoenix, Arizona. Her specialty was party planner for the Cooling Reunions in July in Scottsdale, Arizona!

Janet is survived by two children, Pamela (David Bamrick) Englehart of Rockwell; Lee (Lori Pierson) Englehart of Mason City; stepson, Mike (Von) Gleason of Arizona; Special Son, Hamisi Kote Ali of Kenya; sister, Ann (Frank) Weiner of Nora Springs; brother, Don (Marilyn) Cooling of Colorado; brother, Jerry (Phyllis) Cooling of Mason City; Sister, Judy (Jerry) Conner of Belmond; two grandsons, Johnnie (Eric) Riser of Nora Springs; Tyler (Gabrielle) Ginther of Meservey; four great-grandchildren, Carson Riser, Maddison Riser, Skyler Riser and Liv Ginther along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerry Gleason; two brothers, Bill and Hugh Cooling.
