CLEAR LAKE — Gary Robert Glassel, 50, Clear Lake, formerly of St. Ansgar, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

A funeral service for Gary will be held 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at First Lutheran Church, 212 North Main, St. Ansgar with the Rev. Christopher Staley officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the church service on Friday at the church.

Those wishing to give a memorial in his memory may wish to consider contributions be made to Opportunity Village in Clear Lake.

Gary Robert Glassel was born on April 26, 1966, in Osage, the son of Robert Glassel and Jorene (Beyer) Gunderson. Gary was confirmed and lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. Gary attended the Osage Community Schools, and graduated from Elma High School. Gary was a resident and worked for Comprehensive Systems in Charles City and Opportunity Village in Clear Lake. Gary enjoyed visiting with his many friends and family, collecting Matchbox cars, watching Dukes of Hazards, Smokey and the Bandit, American Pickers, Little People, and cop shows on TV.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother and father, Jorene Gunderson and fiancé, James Iverson of Northwood, and Bob (Virginia) Glassel of St. Ansgar; his sister, Bobbi Tabbert of Austin, MN; his nephews and niece, Christopher Tabbert of Ankeny, Nicholas (Melissa) Tabbert of Scottsville, KY, and Stephanie (Greg) Weis of St. Ansgar; his great-nieces and nephews, Lauren, Logan, Alex, and Emma Tabbert, and Kinsley and Carter Weis; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his great-nephew, Jacob Tabbert.
