ST. ANSGAR — Mabel C. Gill, 96, of St. Ansgar died Saturday (Aug. 27, 2005) at the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, 510 W. Fourth St., St. Ansgar with Pastor Jay Amundson officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church.The family suggests memorials to Mabel C. Gill Memorial Fund.

Mabel was born on Dec. 17, 1908, in rural Kellogg, Minn., the daughter of Henry and Ethel (Dowling) Wehrenberg. She graduated from Lake City, Minnesota, High School in 1926 and then from Winona Normal School with a degree in education. She taught school in Hart, Minn.

Mabel married Alvin E. Gill on April 6, 1929, in Winona. They later settled in the Clear Lake and Mason City area. In 1998 she moved to the Good Samaritan Center, St. Ansgar.

Mabel enjoyed playing cards, reading, sewing, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, St. Ansgar, and the Moose Lodge, Mason City.

She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Donna M. (Roy) Harvey, Dolan Springs, Ariz., and Marlis E. (Harold) Kratz, St. Ansgar; eleven grandchildren: Michael B. (Jose) Harvey, Carla Rae Kroll, Janelle (Don) Lozano, John Harvey, Annette (Bryan) Galbreath, Robert Harvey, Sharon (Bill) Maring, Karol (Charles) Phillips, Robert (Patti) Kratz, Thomas (Diane) Kratz and Mary (Paul) Curran; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and seventeen great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1990; and three brothers, Paul, Ray and Robert Wehrenberg.
