A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 305 Elm St. E., Rockwell, with the Rev. John Gossman officiating.

Frank was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on Jan. 31, 1939, to Michael and Dorothy McKinnon, the second oldest of ten children. He was raised and educated in Boston and after leaving school, he joined Ironworkers Local 7 at the age of 15, climbing to heights that challenged his abilities; he loved reshaping the Boston skyline alongside his brother ironworkers.

As a young man, Frank and his wife Barbara (Collins) were Drum and Bugle Corps members and traveled far beyond their city life. In 1956, Frank decided that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with his best friend and asked Barbara “Skates” for her hand in marriage.

On Aug. 10, 1957, they were united in marriage and together raised five children. Frank became a member of the Knights of Columbus in 1962 and became a 4th degree Knight in 1964. In 1977, the family moved to Iowa and over the course of forty years they lived between Massachusetts and Iowa.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of 59 years, his children: Frank Jr. (Dolly) McKinnon, Barbara Rich, Scott McKinnon, Kim Thyne, and daughter-in-law Julie Payer; his grandchildren: Jamie, Amanda, Davis, Dunovan, Marcus and Lucas McKinnon, Valerie (fiancé Cody Minor) and Michael Thyne, and Nicole Rich; siblings: Denise Anthony, Gerald and Kevin McKinnon, Dorothy Petroni, and Patricia Durgin, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, as well as many loving friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, siblings: Michael and Robert McKinnon, Ann-Marie Neault, and Lorraine DeFelice; his son Jim, son-in-law Martin, and grandson Joseph.
