Marcile Fay Murphy March 12, 1927 - Sept. 3, 2017

Marcile Fay Murphy, 90, of Rockwell, IA died Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm with a 6:30 pm wake service on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Fullerton Funeral Home, 120 S 3rd St, Rockwell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 305 Elm St E, Rockwell, with Father John Gossman officiating.

Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery.

Marcile was born on March 12, 1927 in Rockford, IA to William and Clara (Nielsen) Koppen. She attended schools and graduated from Rockwell High School in 1945. On June 8, 1950 she was united in marriage to Vincent M. Murphy. To their union three children were born. Marcile was a resident of Rockwell since 1979 when she and Vince moved into town.

She was a homemaker and farmer’s wife; the couple farmed in the Dougherty/Cartersville area for many years. Marcile was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and volunteered for the Auxiliary and Guild.

In her free time she enjoyed gardening vegetables when they farmed and flowers once they had moved to town. One of her favorite things to do was going out with her husband or friends dancing. Marcile also liked roller skating and playing cards; she kept very active even into her later years.

Those left to cherish her memory include children: Thomas (Ruthann) Murphy, Lorena (Edward) Gaffney and Eugene Murphy; grandchildren: Josie (Cody) Baxter, Devin (Kayleigh Eden) Murphy, Nolan (Brittany Siemons) Murphy, Austin (Angelina Conti) Murphy, Cassity Murphy, Terra (Chad) Gaffney-Simmer, Sarah (Brian) Novacek, Angela (Jeremy) Sturges and Benjamin (Shelby) Gaffney; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean DiGregorio; brother-in-law, Paul Bamrick and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Murphy; parents, William and Clara Koppen; brothers, Clarence and Howard Koppen; sister, Sharon Bamrick, one brother-in-law, Paris DeGregorio and two sister-in-laws, Cleo Koppen and Phyllis Koppen.
