Erica Benson September 25, 1976 - February 2, 2018

Erica Benson, 41, of Clear Lake passed away Friday, (February 2, 2018) at her home in Mason City, Iowa.

A celebration of her life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, (February 7, 2018) at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 North 4th Street, Clear Lake. The celebration of her life will continue at the VFW in Clear Lake at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions may be directed to Nathan or Pierce Benson or to the family of Erica Benson at MBT Bank; PO Box 32; Clear Lake, Iowa 50428.

Erica C. (Marsh) Benson was born September 25, 1976 in Iowa City, daughter of John and Pamela (Secory) Marsh. Erica graduated Clear Lake High School, class of 1995. She had recently achieved a lifelong dream of earning a college diploma, and was excited about the life ahead of her. She had two sons with Trinity A. Benson during their eighteen years of marriage.

Erica had worked various jobs in the Mason City and Clear Lake area. She was very excited about her upcoming career change into Medical Coding and Billing.

Erica was a fun-loving person who had a contagious smile and laugh. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved her two boys, and her dog Daisy, to the moon and back. Erica was always up for any kind of road trip or adventures.

Erica is survived by her two sons, Nathan (Morgan) and Pierce Benson of Clear Lake; father, John (Caryll) Marsh of Clear Lake; mother, Pam Marsh of Clear Lake; brother, Jeff (Jessica) Marsh of Cedar Falls; four sisters, Jennifer, Kristin, Lisa and Anna; three brothers, Jeff S., Tim and James; best friend and her person, Susan Schoby and sons; grandparents, Dale (Carolyn) Marsh, Karen Secory, and many extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by grandfather, Ralph Secory; two grandmothers, Velma Jasperson and Katie Secory; aunt, Cinda; uncle, Steve; cousins, Michael, Andrew and Steven John.
